Robin is a trauma-informed trainer, parenting coach, speaker, and writer. She also serves as the Outreach Pastor at Pantano Christian Church in Tucson, AZ. She has a passion for partnering with schools, churches and the community. She believes that when our churches, schools, and communities understand the effects of trauma, it changes how we respond and show up for others. When we respond to those around us with compassion and empathy, we help build bridges of connection and healing.
Robin and her husband, Roger, were married in 1991 and have 5 daughters including 4 biological and 1 adopted out of foster care ranging in age from 20-30 years old. Her life is full with family, church, training and inspiring others. She is a certified trainer for the AZ ACEs Consortium, the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework, and a Trained Independent Facilitator of the Love and Logic® Curriculum (having taught well over 4,000 parents and educators these amazing tools.) She has a B.S. in Child Development and an M.A. in Human Resource Leadership.
Robin published her first book in November of 2020 – Where in the Zoo Are You? – a children’s book with resources to help children talk about their emotions concerning traumatic events like COVID-19. Reading, diamond art projects and taking photos of flowers are 3 of the ways that Robin refills her tank.
Testimonials
Our schools have had the pleasure of working with Robin for several years. Every time she comes to our campuses, she draws in our teachers, staff, and parents with her practical and real-world experience. Her stories are relatable and have everyone laughing and crying. She truly understands what it is like working with children of all ages and provides support, guidance and listens to all frustrations. Robin offers easy to apply techniques and demonstrates how to use them with all children and students. She is one of our highest requested presenters and we continue to bring her back to our schools as often as possible.
Robin Blumenthal generously provided two trainings to our Southern AZ Mentoring Coalition (SAMC) on ACEs and trauma informed care for youth through a grant from the Governor's Office of Youth, Faith, and Family. SAMC consists of several mentoring organizations in Southern AZ meeting monthly to collaborate, provide support, share resources and provide ongoing trainings for our mentors and our community focused on the needs of our youth and families and how best to support them. These trainings were well attended by mentors and program staff. Robin did a wonderful job teaching at a level that met each participants' experience and knowledge base, providing resources, tools and real life experiences. I would highly recommend these trainings to anyone interested in learning more about trauma informed care and working with youth and adults coming from trauma backgrounds.
Where in the Zoo Are You? has been a phenomenal resource for me. As a school psychologist, I have used it in trainings in the educational and community settings to encourage discussions about the impact of the flood (in essence, any collective traumatic event including COVID-19, current political climate, natural disasters) on the animals and zookeepers (all of us!). I have been astounded at the depth and quality of the discussions that have ensued amongst teachers, students, therapists, parents, etc. A common takeaway from every training was the acknowledgement that everyone has been impacted by the events taking place in our country in so many different ways, but they are all valid! Readers of this book arrive (on their own) at the conclusion that it is love, patience, compassion, and empathy that will ultimately help all of us to make it through challenging times. Not only has this book been a valuable training tool, but I have also read it several times through with my 8-year-old granddaughter and our follow-up discussions were just as insightful and heartfelt. Thank you Robin!
I would highly recommend Robin's class to any and all parents! She does an amazing job of making the Love and Logic® class fun, accessible, and practical. I have now gone through her class twice and will likely do it again in the future because each time I learn something new that helps my parenting.
Today we had the opportunity to have an online "Zoom PD" with our staff of 80 people. This was a new experience for us because we had originally intended for the training to be in person. In light of the current Covid19 concerns, in-person training was not an option. The comments that I have received from the training were all excellent. The staff felt that the information was relevant and greatly needed during these uncertain times. Although we would have loved to have the training done at our school site, the message was still powerful. Robin did an excellent job of keeping staff engaged through her examples and breakout sessions. Ample time was also given for questions. If you have the opportunity to invite Robin to your site, whether in person or via Zoom, I highly recommend it. We will be inviting her back for more because the information was so valuable!
Robin is an engaging speaker who shares her years of experience as both a parent and trainer in an entertaining way. Her 6-week Parenting the Love and Logic Way® class has taught us to be better parents. We don’t yell as much and we’re learning to successfully communicate our expectations to our children. The skills learned in the class are not only useful with our children but in our everyday interactions with others.
We read Where in the Zoo Are You? with our 6 year old and had a great conversation about how COVID-19 has affected us. The cute characters in the story provided a safe way to talk about all the different emotions we have felt throughout the pandemic in 2020.
